The Australian and Queensland governments have jointly committed a substantial investment for the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program, marking the largest single initiative to date. This program aims to reduce crash severity and frequency, particularly between Gympie and Cairns, through measures such as wide centre line treatments, audio tactile line marking, intersection upgrades, rest areas, pavement strengthening, overtaking lanes, and upgrades to narrow structures.
Project prioritisation will be guided by the Bruce Highway Advisory Council and both levels of government, with a corridor-wide fatigue management strategy informing rest area and stopping place upgrades.
As a Senior Environmental Officer, you will provide high-level guidance and environmental expertise to enable the project team to meet departmental and government environmental management commitments. The role is involved in the management of various environmental issues associated with the Queensland Transport and Road Investment Program (QTRIP), including noise, air quality, flora, fauna, soil, and water management.
