POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Project Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivering maintenance upgrades, structural remediation, and operational improvement projects at GMA's Wet and Dry Plants in Geraldton and Port Gregory. This role exists to ensure GMA's capital investment translates into reliable, safe, and efficient operations with every project delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

* Prepare and manage project documentation (proposals, scopes, estimates, schedules) to keep all stakeholders aligned and reduce the risk of scope creep and cost overruns.
* Perform technical design, drafting and specification preparation to deliver solutions that are fit-for-purpose, compliant, and buildable within operational constraints.
* Continuously improve project management processes, capturing lessons learned to strengthen delivery over time.
* Provide technical support across projects, applying a deep understanding of GMA's processing plants to identify and implement practical, innovative solutions.
* Supervise projects on-site and manage contractors to ensure works are executed safely, to specification, and in a way that protects GMA's assets and people.
* Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with the approved scope, avoiding unauthorised variations and protecting the value of GMA's investment.
* Arrange and facilitate test work to confirm designs and installations meet performance standards before handover to operations.
* Keep engineering designs version-controlled and current across all disciplines, so the right information is always used in the field.
* Liaise with operations to ensure designs reflect real-world operability and maintainability needs, producing assets that are practical to run and maintain.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date project control documentation to support decision-making, governance, and accountability.
* Participate in technical and commercial procurement reviews to ensure GMA engages the right suppliers at the right value.
* Support Operational Readiness activities prior to commissioning to ensure a safe, seamless transition from project completion to operations.
* Manage commissioning activities to verify systems perform to design intent, enabling a confident handover to the operational team.
* Report regularly on key milestones and performance indicators to give leadership the visibility needed for timely decisions.
* Lead Management of Change and risk management processes to ensure project risks are identified early and changes are assessed before they impact safety, quality, or operations.
* Develop and issue Authorized Funding Expenditure (AFE) documentation to ensure all capital expenditure is properly authorised and tracked against approved budgets.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Structural, Mechanical, or related discipline), Project Management, or equivalent technical qualification.
* Project management qualification or accreditation (e.g. PMP, Prince2, or equivalent).
* A minimum of 3–5 years' experience in project coordination or project engineering roles.
* Understanding of WHS management systems and demonstrated application and commitment to health and safety.
* Experience in researching and understanding complex technical information to develop and implement business solutions.
* Able to work effectively with multiple disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical) to deliver projects on time and within budget.
* Proficiency with project management software with knowledge of design tools.
* Proficiency in project design and planning, management, costing and documentation.
* Experience in managing contractors and administering contracts.
* Effective problem solving and decision making within dynamic project environments.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, and experience working with different cultures.
* Ability to travel to our Mid-West operations.
* Holding a valid C class driver's license.
* Completed the Schedule 26 DMIRS exam for Supervisors.
