Your new role
Are you a dynamic and tech-savvy librarian with a passion for community engagement and quality collections? Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused expert in library collections and information systems to join our vibrant library team.
In this pivotal role, you'll contribute to the development and maintenance of our physical and digital collections, ensuring they remain relevant, accessible, and engaging for our diverse community. Your strong technical skills will support the smooth operation of our Library Management System (LMS), while your collaborative approach will help drive innovation and continuous improvement across our library services.
You'll also play a key role in supporting our customer service team, building digital literacy capacity and model exceptional customer service. Whether you're cataloguing new resources, troubleshooting tech issues, or helping a customer discover their next great read, your work will make a meaningful impact every day.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
What we are looking for
Passion for providing excellent customer service to the community by development of physical and online collections that meet customer needs and expectations.
Strong technical skills and understanding of Library Management Systems and other technologies, and ability to train and support both library staff and customers in their use.
Degree qualification in library and information management and/or proven experience in a public library environment
Interest in public libraries, literacy and lifelong learning and a commitment to promote a positive image of Library Services and encourage increased library usage.

Application Criteria
Proven understanding and experience in the principles of library collection development including stock selection, purchasing, cataloguing and weeding processes for both print and non-print resources.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Library Management software (preferably SIRSI) including systems maintenance, statistical reporting, database maintenance and troubleshooting.
Proven ability to support both library staff and customers in the use of library technologies/equipment and vendor-provided digital resources, and to resolve technical issues as required.
Experience in a public library environment with proven excellent communication and customer service skills with a focus on providing positive interactions with library services, programs and staff.
