Primary objective
As a workforce strategist role, the Assistant Director Workforce Attraction will design, manage, and deliver strategic worker
attraction initiatives and provide quality strategic advice including labour market analysis.
Context statement
The Office of Workforce Development is responsible for identifying skill shortages and shaping strategic workforce, migration and
population policies and programs that contribute to a resilient and future ready workforce and retention. This includes delivering
the NT Worker Attraction Program to build and sustain a diverse workforce and population that supports Territory growth and
economic development objectives.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide strategic leadership to deliver key worker attraction initiatives in partnership with the strategic engagement team.
2. Manage and provide strategic direction relating to the WorkerConnect platform.
3. Provide high level strategic advice in relation to identified projects, strategies and initiatives that support workforce and
population growth.
4. Manage, identify, plan, and implement interstate and international worker attraction activities, with clear plans including
resourcing, timeframes, and strong commitment to achieving quality outcomes.
5. Undertake research and analysis to gain insights that shape targeted worker attraction campaigns.
6. Preparation of a range of high level, well written documentation including policy briefings, reports, and ministerial
correspondence.
7. Work collaboratively to build and maintain productive relationships and ongoing communication with key internal and external
stakeholders and be responsive to stakeholder needs and expectations
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven oral and written communication skills, with the ability to think creatively and conceptualise content in innovative ways.
2. Experience leading worker attraction initiatives including evaluation of markets, strategy development, trend analysis, and
stakeholder engagement as it relates to workforce attraction.
3. Superior interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to rapidly form and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with
diverse stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills, and ability to manage resources and leverage specialist
expertise to deliver quality and timely outcomes in a dynamic environment.
5. Proven ability to engage and deliver evidence-informed advice to senior management, negotiate with influence and to consider
the broader strategic landscape in formulating advice.
6. Demonstrated experience working effectively in a professional team environment.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of the Northern Territory and national labour markets.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline.
