The opportunity
As an Urban Planner, you'll play a key role in shaping Hobsons Bay's future by assessing planning applications and guiding development outcomes that balance legislation, policy and community needs. You'll provide trusted planning advice, represent Council at VCAT when required, and deliver responsive, high‐quality customer service to applicants, residents and stakeholders throughout the planning process.
What you'll be doing
* Assessing and determining statutory planning permit applications
* Preparing clear, accurate planning reports and recommendations
* Providing planning advice to applicants, staff and the community
* Representing Council at VCAT and Council meetings as required
* Engaging with stakeholders to achieve positive community outcomes
What you'll need to succeed
* Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or related discipline
* Understanding of Victorian statutory planning legislation
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Customer‐focused approach with confidence engaging the public
* Ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy and care

Pre-Employment Requirements
Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check & a Working With Children Check (WWCC). Candidates must also hold a valid Victorian Driver's License.
