The Role
This role is responsible for providing both technical and administrative support to the development community by working closely with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders. A key part of the role involves stakeholder liaison and education — helping others understand TasWater's requirements and processes. You'll also support other teams across the department to ensure legislated timeframes are met, contributing to a smooth and efficient customer experience.
What you'll be doing:
* Interpreting and reviewing customer applications and documentation to ensure compliance with TasWater's requirements and relevant legislation.
* Supporting both internal and external stakeholders by providing timely, accurate technical advice and administrative assistance.
* Liaising with customers, permit authorities, and other stakeholders to guide them through development-related processes and requirements.
* Managing enquiries, applications, and complaints — working toward resolutions or escalating when necessary.
* Using a range of systems and tools (like MS Office, Geocortex, HPE Content Manager) to track, manage, and process information efficiently.
* Helping educate stakeholders on application standards, processes, costs, and regulatory obligations to ensure clear and consistent understanding across the board.

What we're looking for
We're looking for someone with a strong mix of technical knowledge, customer service skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders. You'll need to be organised, detail-oriented, and confident working both independently and as part of a team to help ensure we meet our obligations and deliver great service.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
* A Certificate IV in Customer Engagement, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
* Experience or strong understanding of development processes, relevant legislation, and regulatory requirements.
* Previous experience in local government or within a building, design, or plumbing environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
* Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and legislative requirements.
* Solid technical skills, including experience with databases, business applications, and Microsoft Office tools.
* A collaborative approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

The Details
This role is a part time fixed-term contract until 24 December 2026 and can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport. The position attracts a salary of $89, $94, pro-rata at 0.6 FTE and inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
