The Costa Group is Australia's largest fresh produce company with a huge footprint in Australia and overseas. They grow, market and supply product to the large supermarket chains across the country, as well as a sizeable export market for their produce. This role will be with their Citrus Operation based in the Riverland.
The Senior Agronomist - Riverland in conjunction with reporting agronomy, technical, irrigation and development staff will develop, monitor and be responsible for the agronomy and irrigation operating plan for citrus that is aligned with the objectives and framework of the Regional Farming Operations Manager and National Horticultural Manager which maximises yield, quality, fruit size and profitability for the farming assets.
The incumbent will be responsible for leading and maintaining safe and sustainable horticulture standards and work practices, leveraging and consolidating category best practices and for ensuring performance practices are initiated and adhered to for all reporting personnel.
This role is a senior leadership position with multiple "business critical" touch points. The role is accountable for a range of key agronomic deliverables, a "people first" safety culture, and stringent food safety and quality objectives.
This role will report directly to the Divisional Manager - Riverland.
Candidate Requirements:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications (Bachelor or Masters degree in Science, preferably plant physiology/horticultural) or similar.
* Al least 7 + years Agronomy/Farm Management experience, specifically citrus.
* Strong knowledge of Citrus Nutrition, Soil Science, Irrigation Management and Crop Manipulation.
