About the Role and QLD Opportunity
Akura is expanding into our third state, Queensland. We have new and existing clientele who will provide us with a growing pipeline of work in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast. Akura is looking for the right person to grow with this role, starting off as a Senior Project Manager to bring their local experience to the table. Located in our new office in Brisbane City, there is exciting potential for the right person to become our QLD Project Director and build a small team around them.
Beyond projects, you will be doing a small amount of Business Development and liaising with our Sales team as the "on the ground" Akura person. With the opening of a new office, this exciting role will suit the right candidate who is looking for career growth in an established business, with strong head office support, reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, Head of Design and Construction.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in tender and pricing strategies for the QLD market
* Meet with key trades and suppliers to help determine suitable rates and preferred sub contractors
* Outline project scope, allocate resources efficiently, and set achievable deadlines across several projects
* Create comprehensive project plans and track progress
* Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, stakeholders, and teams to provide timely updates
* Lead and manage teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications and quality standards
* Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to prevent disruptions
* Ensure compliance with safety regulations and enforce adherence to all safety protocols
* Generate regular progress reports for both internal and external stakeholders
About You
You will be an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in overseeing large-scale industrial and commercial construction projects. You will have a proven track record of meeting deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and guide teams, make strategic decisions, and foster a collaborative environment to drive project success. You can demonstrate:
* Strong knowledge of construction contracts, QLD regulatory requirements, and project management processes – particularly across the industrial sector
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
* Attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
* Proficiency in Procore and MS Office Suite are desirable
