OverviewAustralian Citizens residing in Australia only respond.Services Australia is seeking to identify suitable candidates to perform the role of Test Engineers, from junior levels to expert and manager levels, to support the agency achieve overall testing strategies, managing effective planning, monitoring and execution of all testing activities within the agency.Test Engineers ensure that their test effort is effectively executed and that allocated activities are completed in a structured, consistent manner in accordance with agreed test guidelines.
They use their in-depth knowledge to provide technical advice and development to less experienced testers.
They exercise a degree of independent judgement and make decisions within defined parameters that require reliance on skills and knowledge.
Test Engineers plan their own work and contribute to teamwork goals in the context of competing priorities, and changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.The level of Security Clearance required for a Role will be confirmed at the time of Contract.Job Title Test EngineerMain DutiesDuties may include, but not limited to, some or all of the following:execute assigned test cases at various stages of testing on appropriate testing platformsdevelop test plans, test cases, task cards, and supporting test data and/or requirements, under own direction from the specifications providedanalyse and report on test activities and results, and escalate issues and risks to senior staffcontribute to team improvement initiatives and projects, including team tools, process changes, and test automationidentify, manage and document defects, programming errors and operational characteristics that are inconsistent with stated requirements and design specificationsconduct testing to ensure the ICT service functions as per requirementscreate test data within external software vendor environmentaccurately record time and effort for test casesallocate work to team members, using judgement to match issue complexity and staff capabilityprovide assistance and training to less experienced testerssupport team to follow business processes and align to overall delivery outcomesmaintain up-to-date knowledge of ICT related legislation, policy and processes and transfer knowledge to other team memberscollaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective and timely implementation of projectsprovide advice and assistance to external software vendors in regard to testing and development of softwareassist with cost analysis activities as requiredSkills/Attributes Skills for the Information Age (SFIA) required:Methods and tools METL - Level 4Ability to:think strategically and identify broader influences that may impact on work and work areasupport and provide assistance to othersbuild rapport and maintain stakeholder relationshipsinvestigate and respond to identified issues and escalate as neededclarify expectations and identify concernscommunicate confidently and present messages in a transparent, concise and articulate mannermanage time and organise work against performance expectationscontribute towards team work plansanalyse information and make recommendations based on evidenceresearch and make sound decisions based on sound subject matter knowledge and judgementwork independently and as part of a team under general directionprioritise competing tasks and work collaboratively to see tasks through to completionadapt to a changing environment and assist others to adapt.Every application requires to address selection criteria as part of application submission.
