Cockburn Ice Arena is seeking a Operations & Facility Manager to lead daily venue operations, facility maintenance, and frontline teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being on the floor, solving problems, leading people, and ensuring a world-class experience for every customer.
About the Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Operations & Facility Manager is responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of the venue, including:
The year-round management and maintenance of facility infrastructure, plant, and equipment (excluding IT), including two ice surfaces
Leading and supporting ice arena, maintenance, and cleaning teams
Acting as the senior on-site escalation point for operational and equipment-related issues
Ensuring safe, efficient operations and an exceptional customer experience across public skating sessions, programs, and events
Supporting workforce planning, recruitment, and succession planning
Championing workplace health and safety and contributing to the development and review of Safe Work Operating Procedures (SWOPs)
Ensuring first aid readiness and acting as Chief Fire Warden when required
You will be a visible and hands-on leader on shift, particularly during peak periods such as school holidays and major events.
About You
You are a confident, practical leader with experience in operations or facilities management, ideally within a venue, events, recreation, or customer-focused environment.
You may be an experienced manager, or a capable leader ready to step up into a management role.
You enjoy being hands-on, supporting teams on the floor, and making clear decisions in a live operational environment.
You will bring:
Experience managing people and/or facilities in an operational setting
Strong problem-solving, practical knowledge, communication, and excellent organisational skills
A customer-first mindset and a commitment to high service standards
