The Role
As our Adelaide Property and Projects & Construction team continues to grow, we are looking for a Junior Lawyer with between 1-3 years’ PQE to join us and work alongside Annoushka Scharnberg. This is an excellent opportunity to build your career by working on significant residential, commercial, and mixed‑use developments, contributing to projects from acquisition through to delivery.
You will be working directly with Annoushka Scharnberg, a nationally recognised industry leader and Partner at Mills Oakley. Annoushka serves as South Australia’s first female Vice President of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (SA) and a UDIA National Director, and is widely regarded for her influential role in shaping planning reform, driving industry improvement, and delivering landmark development projects.
As an award‑winning advocate for diversity and the founder of Fierce Females, she is committed to fostering inclusive, high‑performing teams. Annoushka is also a renowned mentor whose guidance has supported many emerging professionals into senior roles across law, government, and the development sector. * Assisting with advice on property acquisitions, disposals, and development structuring under the guidance of senior lawyers
* Preparing and reviewing contracts such as development agreements, construction contracts, infrastructure agreements and leases
* Supporting senior team members with planning, zoning, approvals, and regulatory compliance matters
* Conducting legal research, due diligence and preliminary risk assessments for development sites
* Contributing to project delivery by providing clear, well‑supported legal input and helping drive positive commercial outcomes
Who We Are Looking For
We’re looking for a motivated Junior Lawyer who is eager to build their career in property, projects and construction law. You’ll thrive in a fast‑paced environment, enjoy tackling complex legal issues, and be ready to learn from experienced practitioners who will support your development.
You will be a great fit if you bring:
* Between 1-3 years’ PQE from a reputable property and/or projects and construction practice
* Strong research, drafting and analytical skills
* An interest in property development, construction, and major projects
* A proactive mindset with the confidence to take ownership of tasks under supervision
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders
* A willingness to learn, ask questions and grow your technical capability
