Job Description Your Opportunity We’re looking for a Senior Network Detection and Response Specialist to join our IT Security team. In this role, you’ll leverage your technical skills to develop, maintain, and support innovative solutions that solve real-world challenges in the payments industry. From designing and building scalable systems to ensuring seamless integration with key technologies, your work will directly impact millions of users. You’ll also make an impact by: Secure information systems by monitoring, detecting, investigating, analysing, and responding to security events. Investigate and report on network security exposures, misuse of resources or non-compliance events. Implement detective and protective security controls across Cuscal’s network technology stack (firewall, IPS/IDS, WAF etc.) Work collaboratively with other Security Operations teams to deliver common goals. Effectively manage cyber risk, adhering to Cuscal’s risk management process. Build strong relationships with other teams within Cuscal to ensure effective cross-collaboration and influence to meet business outcomes and security objectives. Collaborate with risk, compliance, and IT teams to align security practices with financial regulations (e.g., APRA CPS 234, PCI DSS). Provide cyber security advice to projects, and departments across all business units as required, to enable staff to make informed risk-based decisions Measure and report on the performance of network security controls to demonstrate control effectiveness and maturity. Deliver support in a professional and timely manner whilst demonstrating the highest standards of written and verbal communication. Manage production issues and incidents and participate in problem and change management forums. Qualifications What you’ll bring To succeed in this role, you’ll have: Minimum 5 years related experience to Cyber/IT Security IT Security skills (Network and firewalls, Windows and Linux operating systems, database, malware and vulnerability identification and remediation, penetration testing, endpoint protection, DLP, IDS/IPS, email security, data encryption, application whitelisting, log monitoring & alerting, detection and response). Strong analytical skills to analyse security requirements and relate them to appropriate security controls. Ability to analyse large data sets and identify anomalies. An understanding of operating system internals and network protocols. Ability to assess risks and deploy security control countermeasures under pressure with minimal supervision. Understand and demonstrate commitment to security compliance obligations and standards (APN, APRA, PCI, Privacy, NPPA, SWIFT) Ability to write and present reports and recommendations, root cause analysis, incident response security vulnerability analysis and penetration test findings. A strong understanding of the business impact of security tools, technologies, and policies. Working knowledge of information systems security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines (e.g., access control and system hardening, system audit and log file monitoring, security policies, and incident handling). You’ll stand out from the crowd if you have some of the following: Payments industry, ATM/EFT/POS technology, cards and finance or other regulated industries and/or 24x7 mission-critical environments. Knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, CPS 234 etc. Understanding of legal, regulatory, privacy and security matters associated with the Banking and Finance Industry.
