About the Role
Join a leading legal, financial services and insurance business based in North Sydney. As part of the Group Risk & Compliance team, you'll support the management of regulatory risk across the organisation. The role offers hands-on exposure to regulatory change, policy advocacy, compliance support, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic in-house environment.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Change & Compliance
6. Monitor and summarise developments from regulators (ASIC, APRA, Treasury, ICA)
7. Maintain registers, dashboards, and tracking tools
8. Draft summaries and impact assessments of legal and regulatory changes
9. Support regulatory change processes, templates, and internal guidance materials
Industry Advocacy & External Engagement
10. Assist in preparing briefings, consultation responses, and correspondence
11. Track regulatory and policy issues from government or industry bodies
12. Support the business's involvement in industry forums and consultations
13. Contribute to advocacy messaging and written submissions
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
14. Contribute to internal reports, including Board and committee materials
15. Assist in preparing training and stakeholder communications
16. Attend internal meetings, document key insights and action items
17. Prepare briefing materials and follow-up documentation
Projects & Framework Uplift
18. Provide research and coordination support for strategic regulatory projects
19. Assist in uplifting frameworks, registers, and operational procedures
20. Identify opportunities to streamline documentation and regulatory analysis
Ideal Candidate Profile
Education & Knowledge
21. Recent graduate in law (0–2 years' PQE)
22. Interest in the Australian financial services regulatory environment
23. Awareness of the general insurance sector and regulatory bodies (e.g. ASIC, APRA) is an advantage
Skills
24. Strong research, analysis, and synthesis capabilities
25. High attention to detail when reviewing legal and regulatory content
26. Clear written communication skills adaptable to various audiences
27. Organised and capable of managing competing priorities under supervision
28. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with project tracking tools is beneficial
