Primary objective
As an effective member of the school administration team undertake high level financial, travel logistics, administrative,
contract and project management duties for the NT Music School and its partners.
Context statement
NT Music School provides instrumental, ensemble and choral tuition, music education services and support, and events and
programs to NT government schools, at all stages of learning from Foundation to Year 12. Key activities include large-scale
multi-school performances, multi-school concert band, guitar-ensemble, strings and choral programs. This position is based
in Darwin. Local travel using own vehicle may be required (kilometre allowance payable).
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage and maintain travel and logistics systems and processes, including processing, acquitting and recording
expenditure using NTG travel systems such as the Travel Request Information Processing System (TRIPS), Vehicle
Booking System (VBS) and the Corporate Travel Provider booking system.
2. Provide effective support to the Business Manager in all tasks associated with the school’s finances.
3. Provide administrative support to the front office, the Principal, leadership team, teaching staff and other relevant tasks
as directed by the Business Manager.
4. Work flexibly in support of the NT Music School’s remote, regional and international programs.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge and experience in financial accounting principles and practice and competency in financial accounting systems
(e.g., Ci Anywhere).
2. Demonstrated experience in coordinating official staff travel including the facilitation of approvals, bookings and
payments or the demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and apply this knowledge.
3. Demonstrated strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure, attend to detail, exercise initiative,
respond to shifting priorities, complete tasks within required timeframes and work in a team environment with minimal
supervision.
4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with an ability to interact effectively with
people from diverse cultures and work well with a wide range of people with tact and discretion.
5. Demonstrated strong computer literacy skills, including, experience with the effective use of various office applications
and databases.
Desirable
1. A working knowledge of school environments and education systems.
