Job Description
The role of the StandBy Outreach Worker for Northern Territory is responsible for assisting in the delivering of

support for people bereaved or impacted by suicide, community engagement, education and training,

as well as other events and activities as directed by the StandBy Manager or Coordinator.

Desired Skills And Experience
*Ensure quality delivery of the StandBy program in line with the StandBy Model in accordance with the StandBy manual and guidelines, including:***

* Lead and coordinate support sessions (including completing home visit checklist, travel forms, consent, privacy and confidentiality)
* Travel across the region of Northern Territory as and when needed - must be comfortable travelling in small planes.
* Provide individual support (face-to-face and/or telephone support) to those bereaved by suicide.
* Identify support needs through risk assessment, screening, initial phone support and development of ongoing support plans.
* Responding to notifications and support requests
* Support StandBy Coordinator with delivery of community engagement, education and training, following asset-based community development principles, across the region.
* Receiving program oversight, guidance and support from the StandBy Coordinator as well as providing feedback and continuous improvement initiatives to the StandBy Coordinator
* Maintenance of accurate service delivery documentation and input accurate data into the StandBy database.
* Maintenance of high level of knowledge/skills of best practice relating to suicide postvention
* Championing the voice of 'Lived Experience' if relevant.
* Collaborative engagement with relevant individuals, stakeholders and groups of diverse backgrounds, abilities, ages and genders
* Compliance with overall service provision requirements including evaluation, reporting (workplan and progress reports and advisory group reports) and other performance measures for the program in accordance with organisational, contractual, and legislative frameworks.
* An understanding of and experience in suicide postvention service provision and associated issues, bereavement and/or related disciplines such as trauma, grief and loss with demonstrated evidence of sector engagement, community development and partnerships.
* Relevant qualifications or substantial experience in a relevant allied health or community services discipline including psychology, counselling, mental health, social work, or community development.
* Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is desirable (however preferred applicant will be supported to obtain upon recruitment)
