Job Description
As a key member of our Laboratory team, you will be responsible for coordinating daily operations, supervising a team of Laboratory Technicians, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality data that supports our world-class lithium production. This role operates on an even-time shift roster, with a mix of 12-hour day and night shifts, offering a balanced schedule.
You will work closely with the QA Coordinator and Laboratory Shift Supervisors to lead method development and validation projects, foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture, and promote a strong safety, mental health and work ethic through demonstrated personal behaviour and commitment to safety and the environment.
The successful candidate will have experience in a commercial, mining or production Laboratory, including strong practical experience in the advanced operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF, IC and Automated Titrators.
In this role, you will create projects, register jobs, enter data, review results and generate reports using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). You will also monitor statistical data and control charts and initiate corrective action when outside of acceptable limits.
Responsibilities:
* Promote a strong safety, mental health and work ethic through demonstrated personal behaviour and commitment to safety and the environment.
* Provide supervision, training and support to Laboratory personnel to ensure quality standards, productivity targets and legislative requirements are met.
* Co-ordinate, prioritise and delegate tasks to ensure efficient completion of analyses to meet turnaround times.
* Create projects, register jobs, enter data, review results and generate reports using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
* Monitor statistical data and control charts and initiate corrective action when outside of acceptable limits.
* Operate and perform maintenance on Laboratory equipment. Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and liaise with vendors and Maintenance Planners to arrange for external repairs when required.
* Maintain stock of laboratory parts and consumables. Place stock orders and purchase requests as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* 7 years' experience in a commercial, mining or production Laboratory.
* 3 years' experience in a similar position of a commercial, mining or production Laboratory.
* Strong practical experience in the advanced operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF, IC and Automated Titrators.
* Diploma or higher in Laboratory Techniques (preferred - further qualifications in chemistry or related degree).
* Experience with ISO 17025 systems will be highly valued.
* Be willing to work shift work.
