How will I help?
We are looking for a highly skilled and dynamic Lead Product Owner to spearhead the consolidation of two online banking platforms into a single, unified solution. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in digital banking products and strong technical acumen, thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. In this pivotal role, you will take charge of developing the epic roadmap, managing key stakeholders, and overseeing the seamless integration and migration of the banking platforms. A crucial part of your responsibilities will be reviewing platform documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of each system’s functionality, ensuring well-informed decisions throughout the consolidation journey.
Additionally, you will work closely with the Service Owner to lead the product ownership team, ensuring alignment and driving the successful execution of this critical initiative. You will also collaborate with teams across the organisation to identify interdependencies, manage timelines, prioritise efforts, and optimise resource allocation for ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Product Vision & Strategy: Define and communicate a clear vision and strategy for consolidating the online banking platforms into a single platform, ensuring alignment with the bank’s business objectives and customer needs.
* Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for all product-related matters, including liaising with senior leadership, IT, compliance, risk management, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, set priorities, and resolve issues.
* Agile Product Management: Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle using Agile methodologies. Create and manage the product backlog, prioritize features, enhancements, and technical debt, and ensure successful delivery of product increments.
* Platform Integration: Collaborate closely with technical teams (e.g., software engineers, architects) to oversee the consolidation project, including the migration of features, data, and services from two separate platforms to a unified solution.
* Team Leadership: Work alongside the Service Owner to lead the product ownership team, providing direction and support to ensure cohesive collaboration across product, design, and technical teams.
* Requirements Definition & Documentation: Work with business users and technical teams to translate business requirements into clear and actionable user stories and product specifications.
* Customer-Centric Focus: Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and market trends to guide the development of new features that deliver a superior user experience and drive adoption.
* Risk & Compliance: Ensure the new consolidated platform adheres to regulatory, compliance, and security standards.
* Continuous Improvement: Evaluate the platform’s performance post-consolidation and identify areas for continuous improvement, providing strategic direction to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, QA, marketing, and operations teams to ensure successful product delivery and post-launch support.
* Interdependency Management: Collaborate with other product owners and project teams to identify and manage interdependencies between the online banking platform consolidation and other initiatives within the organization. Ensure alignment in timelines, priorities, and resource allocation across teams to minimize risks and optimize delivery.
* Change Management: Coordinate with other initiatives and departments to manage potential changes and ensure any impact on existing systems or processes is understood and mitigated.
* Documentation Review: Be comfortable reviewing and interpreting existing platform documentation as well as completing discovery activities to gain a thorough understanding of how the online banking platforms currently work, including workflows, systems, and integrations, to inform decision-making throughout the consolidation process.
What do I need?
* Experience: 5+ years of experience in product ownership or product management within the financial services or digital banking industry. Previous experience with platform consolidation or migration projects is a plus.
* Technical Proficiency: Strong technical background with a solid understanding of banking technology, online banking platforms, APIs, integrations, and cloud services.
* Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams, influencing stakeholders at all levels to achieve strategic objectives. Experience working with a Service Owner to guide and motivate a product ownership team is a plus.
* Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex technical and business challenges.
* Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business terms for diverse audiences.
* Agile Methodology: Expertise in Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and working in an iterative, fast-paced environment.
* Customer Focused: Deep understanding of customer needs in the digital banking space and a commitment to delivering superior user experiences.
* Education: A degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Certifications like Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) are a plus.
