Our client is a leader in next-generation, smart composite materials and is at the forefront of innovation in the manufacturing sector. As they experience rapid expansion, they are looking for a Control Systems Engineer to join their dynamic team in Altona North, Melbourne, Victoria.
Position Overview:
Control Systems Engineer to contribute to the development of innovative processing equipment. The Control Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in the development and design of automated processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop the process automation/control systems (including communication networks) hardware architecture - typically comprising of PLCs, safety controllers, functional safety field devices, variable speed drives, power generation and chemical (gas) processing equipment.
* In conjunction with process specialists, design control schemes for new material processing lines, then build, test and operate these systems.
* Assist in the development of new capabilities for control system design, testing, certification and production.
* Develop, program and implement control systems and control strategies for process manufacturing applications, simulating and testing to ensuring stability and reliability.
* Develop and maintain system documentation including functional specifications, design specifications, test plans, and operational manuals.
* Provide technical support to development and operational teams during system development, commissioning, deployment and production.
* Participate in the engineering peer group and exchange of ideas and feedback within the team.
* Ensure all regulatory and safety requirements are met.
* Stay up to date with the latest control systems technologies and industry trends.
* Train staff in control systems functionality and troubleshooting.
* Ensure the safety of all activities, including safety procedures and risk assessments for development and production activities.
* Assist with submissions to all relevant certification authorities for approvals.
* Establish systems and procedures for management of control system design data, in collaboration with control system engineers at other sites.
* Assist in continually improving the output of the team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Electrical /Automation/Control Systems Engineering or equivalent.
Desirable:
* Post-graduate degree or advanced qualifications in Control Systems, Industrial Control, Electrical, Mechatronics or Renewable Energy.
* Experience with artificial intelligence / machine learning for intelligent control.
* Experience in the new energy industry, manufacturing or research & development.
* Functional Safety qualifications (i.e. TUV Certified Engineer).
* At least 3 years of automation/control systems engineering experience within a mining or industrial setting.
