Your Role as a Clinical Nurse with Hummingbird House
As the Clinical Nurse, you will provide clinical leadership and drive clinical excellence to the staff of Hummingbird House and Hummingbird @ Home, by adhering to the principles of evidence-based practice and will collaborate with the Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Consultant to deliver person‐centred care to guests and their families.
Your key responsibilities of this position will be to:
Provide clinical leadership across Hummingbird House and Hummingbird @ Home, ensuring care aligns with best practice and supports safe, timely outcomes.
Manage workloads effectively, including appropriate delegation within scope of practice.
Support orientation and onboarding of nurses, care workers, students, and volunteers.
Develop and deliver education within specialist areas of practice.
Role model professional behaviours in line with organisational policies and attend/report on required meetings.
Contribute to evidence‐based practice, including service development, clinical audits, and evaluation to support quality outcomes and accreditation.

What We're Looking For
Current AHPRA Nursing Registration
Post‐registration experience in a related field such as Palliative Care or Paediatric nursing.
Ability to make appropriate high level clinical and leadership decisions within the scope of the role.
Willingness to undertake further training and education relevant to role.
Aptitude with building professional and therapeutic relationships and to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and with other service providers.
A Valuable Addition, Yet Not a Must-Have!
Knowledge of grief and loss theories with experience in bereavement care.
Qualifications (or working towards) in relevant areas such as Palliative Care, Paediatrics, Critical Care, Community or Midwifery.
Recent qualification in training or mentorship also highly regarded.
Proof of COVID‐19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy)
Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel for work

Underpinned by the notion of creating a 'warm embrace' for children and their families, the multidisciplinary team provides 24/7hr scheduled and emergency specialist care short break stays; pain and symptom management; care at the end of life; and psychosocial support programs for the whole family. With strong connections locally, nationally and internationally with specialist paediatric palliative care services, Hummingbird House is an integrated community‐based service delivering flexible child and family centred care.
