Legal Aid NSW delivers accessible legal services across criminal, family and civil law. We provide advice, court representation, and family dispute resolution through 28 offices and phone-based support, helping people navigate the legal system with confidence and fairness.

About The Role

As a Finance Analyst at Legal Aid NSW, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and budget support to a portfolio of internal clients. You’ll provide expert advice to help teams meet financial targets, ensure accuracy in reporting, and contribute to strategic forecasting and performance monitoring. This is a dynamic role where your insights will support informed decision-making across the organisation, while you collaborate closely with the Budget and Forecasting Team and contribute to key reporting obligations for NSW Treasury and other stakeholders.

You’re a detail-oriented and proactive finance professional who thrives in a cooperative environment.

You Will Bring

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting within a large or government organisation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality, timely advice and support to internal clients.
- Proficiency in financial systems and tools (particularly SAP), with advanced Excel skills.
- A sound understanding of public sector financial management frameworks and reporting requirements including experience with Prime (or a willingness to learn). Experience with Government Shared Services environments would be beneficial.

You Must

The essential requirements for this role

- Be willing to do a Criminal Record Check
- Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
- Hold a tertiary qualification in accounting or equivalent and/or extensive relevant experience
