Transforming Kidney Care: A Compassionate Role for Medical Assistants
Job Description
As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. This hybrid position involves administrative and clinical tasks to support our patients with kidney disease. While primarily conducted via telecommunication, this role may require on-site visits to various healthcare settings or patient homes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Measure, collect, and record vital signs, phlebotomy, etc.
* Support functions including answering telephone calls, retrieving medical records from external sources, completing patient intakes, and appointment scheduling.
* Enter documentation in the patient's medical record by inputting medications, labs, patient demographics and history, screening data, care documentation, and pharmacy information.
* Ensure patient consent is in place, obtains consent if not already completed.
* Support Nurse Practitioners for visits, follow-up tasks including patient outreach, educational materials, DME, etc.
* Serve patients and perform patient visits in multiple care settings as defined by the role, including patient home, clinics, partner MD space, and via telehealth/virtual visits.
* Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure the delivery of holistic patient care.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:
* 2+ years combined of related education, experience, or certification.
* Graduate from a medical assistant program such as Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) Medical Assistant Program, OR Graduate of a formal medical assistant program.
* Current BLS or CPR Certification required.
* Efficient and reliable transportation, including an active driver's license, allowing for the ability to travel across an assigned region to meet patient needs. Locations may include offices, clinics, and patient homes.
* Provides in-person patient care which may include standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
* Internet Connectivity - Min Speeds: 3.8Mbps/3.0Mbps (up/down): Latency <60 ms.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and problem solve.
