Full time, fixed term position until 31st December 2027 – NIF Radiochemist (HEO8) or NIF Radiochemistry Manager (HEO9) based on level of demonstrated experience in relation to the key requirements Unique opportunity to support research within the University of Sydney’s National Imaging Facility (NIF) node Base Salary $126,025 - $154,260 (HEO8/9) 17% superannuation About the opportunity Sydney Imaging, who hosts The University of Sydney’s National Imaging Facility (NIF) node, is currently seeking a NIF Radiochemist/NIF Radiochemistry Manager who will be responsible for facility operations or for managing and directing all services related to radiochemistry activities associated with Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging research. Sydney Imaging currently has a radiochemistry facility at Brain and Mind Centre (Camperdown) and is developing a new facility at Royal North Shore Hospital (St Leonards). NIF is a national research infrastructure network funded by the Australian Government through National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) and supported by state government, universities, and research agencies. NIF enables outstanding science and research through a collaborative network of leading imaging centres across Australia that pioneer research and translation by providing state-of-the-art imaging capability of humans, animals, plants, and materials. The NIF Radiochemist/NIF Radiochemistry Manager will engage with users of Sydney Imaging and NIF to support them through the entire project pipeline. You will be part of a network of NIF Fellows supporting the activities of NIF at the local and national level and will work closely with other NIF Fellows involved in radiochemistry-related initiatives. The Radiochemist will also be expected to promote NIF activities to national and other scientific communities. The successful candidate for this role will be offered either a HEO8 ( NIF Radiochemist ) or HEO9 ( NIF Radiochemistry Manager) position based on their level of demonstrated experience in relation to the key requirements listed below and in the position description. Your key responsibilities will be to: develop and produce radiopharmaceuticals to meet the needs of the Sydney Imaging and NIF user community (preclinical and clinical) oversee or manage radiochemistry facility operations, such as maintaining laboratory equipment, documentation, processes and procedures ensuring strict adherence to relevant regulatory guidelines foster strong links with users, including researchers, students, industry and business users organise appropriate training and induction programs for end-users of the facility participate in the development of new radiochemistry capabilities assist with NIF and USYD reporting activities for the facility. About you postgraduate degree in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, or a related discipline experience in or extensive experience in a radiochemistry related role knowledge of or expert knowledge of radiopharmaceutical production techniques and QC experience with GMP standards and regulatory compliance ability to troubleshoot technical issues and develop innovative solutions in radiopharmaceutical science proven track record in research, including publication and presentation of results in peer-reviewed forums. strong leadership and communication skills facility operation or facility management skills.
