The Role
* Trauma-Informed Care and Relationship Building: Establish strong therapeutic relationships with young people using trauma-responsive strategies, promoting emotional well-being and resilience.
* Emotional Resilience and Self-Awareness: Maintain a calm and composed demeanor in high-pressure situations, providing consistent support and guidance.
* Practical Support and Daily Living Skills: Assist young people with daily routines, personal care, and household tasks, fostering independence and life skills.
* Cultural Safety and Child-Centered Practice: Uphold the rights of children, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, by supporting their identity, voice, and cultural connections.
A typical day may involve:
* Establishing daily routines, including meals, school transports, appointments, and bedtime, to provide stability and structure.
* Building trusting relationships and offering emotional support using trauma-informed approaches.
* Promoting life skills and independence through everyday activities like cooking, personal care, and community outings.
* Maintaining a safe and nurturing home environment while completing documentation and collaborating with your team.
Our Ideal Candidate
* Holds a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Community Services or equivalent (or is working towards it).
* Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with clients, staff, and external agencies.
* Understands appropriate responses to clients with trauma-related behaviors that demonstrate high and complex needs.
* Can work collaboratively within a team environment and with internal and external stakeholders.
What You Will Need To Do
* Complete our online application process.
* Undertake pre-employment testing as part of the recruitment process, which may include psychological assessments.
* Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
* Hold a current Senior First Aid Certificate.
* Hold a current Safe Environments Certificate.
* Hold an unencumbered Australian driver's licence and be willing to drive.
* Be prepared to undergo Junction's onboarding and induction process, which will combine classroom and on-site learning.
