Senior Tailings Engineer (2600003L)
Location: Australia – Queensland – South Brisbane
Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to tailings storage facility (TSF) and mine waste landform projects across the full mining lifecycle, including planning, design, execution, operations, monitoring, and closure.
Provide senior-level technical input across tailings and mine waste management, including geotechnical characterisation, slope stability, seismic deformation and liquefaction analyses, seismic hazard assessments, seepage, and foundation behaviour of dams and tailings storage facilities.
Take responsibility for project technical governance, managing scope, budgets, schedules, and delivery outcomes.
Delegate and coordinate technical tasks across project teams and junior engineers, balancing workloads to support project delivery, quality outcomes, and team development.
Support business development through project scoping, proposal input, and client engagement.
Ensure all work meets internal quality standards, industry best practice, and client requirements.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, mechanical and process engineers, environmental scientists, field teams, and laboratories.
Apply sound professional judgement, data interpretation, and engineering analysis to deliver practical, risk‑informed, and commercially sound solutions.
Review and author high-quality technical reports and design documentation.
Mentor and support the development of junior and intermediate engineers.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to SaferTogether, prioritising health and safety at all times.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical, Geology, or Civil Engineering.
Chartered Engineer status (RPEQ and/or CPEng).
8 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering with significant exposure to tailings and/or mine waste projects.
Demonstrated experience leading or strongly influencing geotechnical design and delivery on complex projects.
A strong client focus, with the ability to manage relationships and deliver to agreed outcomes.
Excellent technical writing, communication, and review skills.
A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to remote project sites as required.
