Your role as Manager, Geopolitical and Country Risk, IB&M Risk Management role sits in the Geopolitical and Country Risk team within the Financial Institutions Credit Risk and IB&M Risk Management. The role will primarily be accountable for the approval, management and ongoing risk support for Foreign Sovereign Credit and Country Risk. You'll also support the Senior Manager Geopolitical and Country Risk develop and maintain geopolitical risk reporting and monitoring.
As Manager you'll work closely with IB&M, Group Treasury and Credit Risk to ensure that Geopolitical and Country risks are considered as part of transactions and that client selection is comprehensive, effective and within the Group's risk appetite.
The role will report into the Senior Manager, Geopolitical and Country Risk.
On any given day you will
* Co-ordinate risk identification and management across the Country Risk portfolio and take appropriate actions to manage individual or portfolio exposures
* Proactively monitor economic, political, geopolitical and market developments, analyse the consequences for the Group's clients and portfolios, and present risk recommendations to senior management
* Undertake credit risk analysis and rating recommendations on sovereign counterparties to make high quality risk decisions in line with delegated Personal Credit Approval Authority
* Contribute to country risk deliverables and submissions to risk and governance committees. Ability to work independently on country exposure deep dives and thematic risk reviews
* Provide geopolitical and country risk advice to internal stakeholders, including risk and governance committees
We're Interested In Hearing From People Who Have
* Demonstrated country risk experience in Institutional Banking with credit risk or portfolio management experience
* Innate curiosity and sound understanding of how geopolitics impacts financial markets. Developing knowledge of financial markets products and market risk principles
* A proactive approach to stakeholder management. Capacity to develop strong internal network of business relationships across relationship, product and other supporting businesses
* Ability to use AI tools, quantitative and qualitative data to provide evidence-based assessments and risk recommendations. Experience demonstrating sound judgment to make decisions
* Awareness of domestic legislation, accounting standards and prudential regulations pertaining to the portfolio would be well regarded
