Through direct engagement with school leaders and communities, the Non-Government School Regulation (NGSR) directorate oversees the registration of non-government schools in Western Australia. Registration assures parents and the community that non-government schools are safe places where students can learn. In doing so, NGSR monitors non-government schools’ compliance with the standards determined by the Minister for Education and other requirements specified in Part 4 of the School Education Act 1999 and the School Education Regulations 2000. NGSR also oversees the registration of schools registered to enrol international student visa holders.
The Role
In this leadership position, you will develop and implement contemporary risk-based frameworks for compliance assessments of non-government schools, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. You will conduct risk and evidence-based compliance assessments, research best-practice methodologies, and coordinate effective reporting and improvement strategies. Additionally, you will analyse emerging trends in education and regulation, providing expert advice to inform risk-based decision-making.
This role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills to establish and maintain relationships with non-government organisations, parents, and government agencies. You will prepare complex reports and Ministerial briefings, oversee projects, and contribute to the continuous improvement of regulatory processes. As a leader within the branch, you will provide guidance and support to your team, ensuring high-quality service delivery while managing staff performance and compliance with public sector standards.
