Role summary
The Houseman plays a key support role within the housekeeping team at a serviced apartment property. The position focuses on maintaining clean, well presented public areas, supporting apartment servicing, and ensuring linen and supplies are moved efficiently to support daily operations. The role is essential in delivering a consistent, comfortable experience for both short-stay and long-stay guests.
Key responsibilities
– Maintain cleanliness and presentation of public and common areas including corridors, lifts, stairwells, foyers, guest laundries, car parks and back-of-house areas
– Support room attendants with apartment services by delivering linen, removing rubbish and assisting with changeovers and stay services
– Transport dirty and clean linen between apartments, linen rooms and laundry areas
– Set up and remove rollaway beds, baby cots and additional guest amenities as requested
– Replenish housekeeping storerooms, trolleys and apartment supplies
– Manage waste and recycling in line with property procedures
– Identify and report maintenance issues, damages or safety concerns within apartments and common areas
– Follow WHS procedures, manual handling guidelines and chemical safety standards
– Provide friendly, discreet and professional assistance to guests, respecting privacy and long-stay arrangements
– Skills and experience
– Previous housekeeping or hotel/apartment experience preferred but not essential
– Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks
– Reliable, organised and able to work independently
– Good attention to detail and time management
– Basic English communication skills
– Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays
