Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) is seeking a passionate and proactive Work Health & Safety (WHS) Liaison Officer to lead safety initiatives at John Hunter Hospital and John Hunter Children's Hospital. You will play a key role in creating and maintaining a safe, compliant, and collaborative environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
About The Role As a WHS Liaison Officer, you will coordinate and improve the hospital-wide safety management program. Your responsibilities include advising leadership, conducting site audits, ensuring WHS legislation compliance, and supporting safety systems such as ChemAlert, Occupational Hygiene, and noise management programs. Your expertise will contribute to the well-being of everyone in our hospitals.
What You'll Bring A relevant WHS qualification or significant experience in safety management within complex organizations, with a willingness to pursue a suitable qualification. Deep knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – confident in educating and influencing others.
