Primary objective
Provide classroom-based support to the teaching staff and contribute to the implementation of the school's education
program, including general administration of school resources, supporting the documentation and evaluation of children's
learning and liaising with families and community.
Context statement
Tennant Creek High School is a small, remote and complex remote Public School that services Tennant Creek and the general
Barkly region, catering for students from Years 7 to 12. The School Values of: Strong Brain, Strong Heart and Strong Spirit
are embedded in all school operations. We are working on embedding trauma informed practice and individualised learning
pathways across the school. Our aim is to offer a broad based, sound, inclusive education to a student cohort coming from
very diverse backgrounds. The focus of the school continues to be on attendance, participation, literacy and numeracy; a
range of programs are offered that underpin these and encourage students to explore opportunities for the future.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Perform word processing, data entry, administrative and other tasks as directed by the teaching staff.
1. Responsible for accurately and timely receipting of all monies coming into the school.
2. Undertake data entry and retrieval of school data systems to ensure accurate maintenance of all manual and
computerised student records including ensuring the integrity and currency of the database.
4. Assist to establish and maintain close working relationships and networks with the students, their families and other
associated stakeholders.
5. Work as part of a team in the delivery of early learning programs to meet the needs of the students, their families and
the community.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience in working with children in a supportive school environment and working as part of a team.
1. Ability to work with initiative, observe confidentiality and interact effectively with children, families, community
representatives and other teaching staff from diverse cultures.
3. Observation, monitoring and recording of children's learning progress.
4. Ability to perform office and finance administration tasks.
1. Ability to assist in the supervision of students in school and during extra-curricular activities.
Desirable
1. Ability to fluently converse in another language relevant to the school's requirements.
2. Experience in the use of various types of office equipment.
3. Certificate III in School-based Education Support qualification or equivalent.
