The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is the independent statutory authority responsible for ensuring that schools, employers of apprentices and trainees and providers of education and training meet quality standards.

Governed by an independent board that reports to the Minister for Education, the Minister for Skills and Tafe, and the Minister for Economic Growth, the VRQA helps support education and training in Victoria.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) Schools, provides high-level strategic advice on relevant regulatory matters to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the VRQA Board, and its committees.

This pivotal leadership role is responsible for fulfilling significant duties including:

* strategic oversight of registrations
* leading complex regulatory reform, reviews and investigations
* cultivating strong relationships across government, peak bodies, schools and other school sector providers and other key stakeholders
* exemplary leadership of a team of 30
* driving a values-based and positive culture of excellence

This is a 5-year role with a salary range of $225,000 - $290,600 (TRP), offering hybrid work arrangements, meaningful and challenging work in an environment that encourages values-based leadership.

About you

Key to your success in this role will be your:

* trackrecord of achievement at an executive level in regulation, or similar government context with experience working with Boards or similar governance structures
* extensive experience developing and managing strategic policy, policy analysis and development, and leading sensitive projects
* deep understanding of contemporary regulatory and legislative frameworks
* well-honed skills in navigating complex environments and stakeholders
* outstanding influencing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
