About Dardi Munwurro: Dardi Munwurro (Strong Spirit) is a specialist Aboriginal family violence service committed to building stronger families and safer communities. Established in 2000, we deliver a range of programs to break the cycle of inter-generational trauma in Aboriginal families and communities, empowering individuals to heal the past, acknowledge the present, and create a positive vision for the future.

About the Service & Role: As a facilitator, you will be responsible for creating safe places, so that healing and behaviour change can take place in a non-shaming environment.

The aim is to equip Aboriginal men to become leaders, role models and mentors within their communities. Dardi Munwurro’s Men’s Healing and Behaviour Change, offers both weekly groups for men who use, or are at risk of using violence, in various locations (and online) and an intensive three-day cultural camp on Country.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary focus of the role is to:

· As the Men’s Healing Behaviour Change Program Facilitator you will be responsible to support men participating in Dardi Munwurro’s MHBCP by providing a culturally safe intake and assessment, group work and case management

· Provide a culturally safe and comprehensive intake assessment for participants referred to the MHBCP including reviewing participant referral, assessment and relevant partner contact information before engaging in an intake with participants

· To facilitate/co-facilitate weekly Men's Behaviour Change groups around the Dardi Munwurro Model, supported by Community Elders & Mentors

· Provide safety planning for the men participating in the MHBCP

· Where possible, provide one-to-one support to participants engaging in the MHBCP

· Post participation support follow ups for men who have completed the program

· Case management undertaken including risk assessment and documentation

· Participant’s ex/partners/family members are supported and referred to Dardi Munwurro’s services such as the Family Safety Contact Worker and or Youth Services.

· Assist participants to access detox and other services if required, prior to them participating in a healing and behaviour change program

· Support group participants to access local services and specialist support as needed.

· Send reminders and follow up participants, as required

· Manage the logistics to support the delivery of Dardi Munwurro programs in your allocated area (groups, camps etc.).

· Coordinate referrals and intake into Dardi Munwurro programs, in collaboration with other Dardi Munwurro staff

· Maintain up-to-date, accurate, confidential client records, program data and ensure client records are managed in line with organisational standards.

· Timely completion of all participant’s records and documents into Dardi Munwurro’s Client Management System

· Participate in debriefing and supervision after a group-delivery

· Participate in the identification of service gaps and assist in the development of initiatives to improve service delivery

· Attend and actively participate in Community Program team meetings.

· Relationships and Stakeholder Management

· Building a strong and professional relationship between Dardi Munwurro and the local justice agencies, including the Courts, Community Corrections Victoria and legal services.

· Represent Dardi and promote awareness of key issues in community networks.

· Establish and support relationships and collaboration with new and existing stakeholders toward achieving Dardi’s vision and purpose and achieving the outcomes for each program.

· Participate in stakeholder meetings, meetings with partnering agencies and other relevant agencies.

· Participation in all induction and onboarding activities and required training, including First Aid, Child Safety and MARAM

Key Organisational Accountabilities

· Always adhere to the Dardi Munwurro Code of Conduct and values

· Support and participate in Dardi Munwurro’s strategic planning

· Ensure appropriate use of resources

· Work as part of a team by being punctual and reliable, attending any meetings

· Participate in debriefing and supervision support as required

· Demonstrated commitment to community participation and ongoing engagement with clients

· Carry out duties in a manner that does not negatively affect yours and the individual’s own safety or others by following the agreed procedures, reporting all incidents, injuries, near misses, as well as cooperating with any measures introduced in the workplace to improve Work Health & Safety

· Participate in the revision and development of corporate policies and procedures

· While at work, comply with requirements as noted in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004

· Meet all the legislative requirements related to this position

Key Selection Criteria:

· Qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioural Science or equivalent area or Graduate with practical experience is highly desirable*

· Proven ability to work effectively with Aboriginal men and the Aboriginal communities.

· Demonstrated understanding of the underlying issues that contribute to Aboriginal men perpetrating family violence.

· Demonstrated understanding of family violence and the impacts on women, children and families.

· Knowledge of healing and behaviour change programs and the ability to empower and inspire men to break the cycle of inter-generational trauma.

· Understanding of the service system and resources available to support Aboriginal men who have used or are at risk of family violence.

· Experience in providing support services to Aboriginal men.

· Ability to role model and practice Dardi Munwurro’s values (Diversity, Accountability, Respect, Determination, and Integrity) with honour.

· Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and liaising with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal organisations to facilitate referral and support men to meet their health needs and achieve their goals.

· Current Victorian Driver’s License.

· A National Police Check.

· Dardi Munwurro is a Child Safe organisation and employment is subject to a current Working with Children Check.
