Job Description
As the Analyst, Investment Banking Power, Utilities & Infrastructure, you will be responsible for delivering industry insights, market and technical expertise to priority clients within their coverage groups, utilising the skills within their team, leveraging Capital Markets product partners and the respective global coverage teams, where appropriate.
What is the opportunity?
The GIB division, across all levels of seniority, delivers the resources of RBC Capital Markets and other RBC divisions to the corporate client base, primarily consisting of listed and unlisted corporations, government entities and private equity. Clients include, but are not limited to, C-suite management, chairman, boards of directors, government officials and individual entrepreneurs. RBCCM GIB advises clients on how best to optimize and execute their corporate strategy. This advice can take the form of acquiring or selling assets, defence against take-over bids, optimising their balance sheet, restructuring their debt and equity or raising capital.
What will you do?
* Transaction execution, new business presentations and meetings, and other such duties
* Developing and reviewing financial models, conducting research and analyzing data to assist senior team members to advise clients
* Analytical, due diligence and transactional support on transactions and business development
* Work with VPs and Associates in development of pitch books and related client materials
* Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
* Proactively identify and escape operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly
* Begin gaining skills to develop relationships with peers / juniors at clients, begin understanding how to develop business opportunities
* Other such duties, responsibilities and authority as may be reasonably required, consistent with your background, experience and prior business activity
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
* Degree educated
* Willing to learn about all investment banking products including M&A, equity, debt, and convertible securities
* Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; strong knowledge of finance and accounting
* Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests
* Ability to take initiative and function well within a team
* Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills with ability to create and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization
* Must maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
Nice-to-have
* Previous Investment Banking experience desirable, but not a requirement
