The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and the Statewide Eyesight Preschooler Screening (StEPS) program are seeking a dedicated Vision Screener to join our Southeastern Sydney team.This role is permanent part-time (16 hours/week), involving four 4-hour shifts, generally between 9am and 1pm, with some flexibility. You will travel to various preschools and childcare facilities, promoting a healthy work-life balance.The ideal candidate will have a genuine desire to contribute to children's health and well-being. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for engaging effectively with children and families. We value honesty, self-direction, organization, and respect, along with enthusiasm for working independently in a fast-paced, varied environment.Candidates must hold a valid NSW Driver’s Licence and have their own vehicle. Full training will be provided; prior vision screening experience is not necessary.What You'll Be DoingConducting vision screening in preschools and childcare facilities across South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health Districts. No prior experience required as training is provided.Working directly with 3-6-year-old children.Communicating professionally with children and parents, including those distressed.Handling sensitive information appropriately.Using computer systems, including Excel, and learning new IT systems as needed.Note: Overseas qualifications require assessment by the Department of Education or relevant authority for migration purposes.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer that values diversity.
