The role of Precinct Lead is a vital position within Emmaus Village, a unique residential community for individuals living with dementia.
This innovatively designed small-household model provides villagers with familiar surroundings, empowering them to live their best life with freedom, independence, and dignity.
Daily life at Emmaus Village includes cooking, shopping, gardening, and shared activities, all centered around the vibrant community hub featuring a café, shop, cinema, beauty salon, and wellness center.
As a Precinct Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of several houses within the village, leading by example and working closely with your Home Companion team members.
This is a part-time opportunity requiring regular weekend shifts, ideal for a hands-on leader with experience in aged care and a passion for empowering people living with dementia.
Key Responsibilities
* Build meaningful connections with villagers, understanding their specific needs and preferences.
* Champion the Emmaus Village service model and vision – Freedom, Independence, and Dignity – 'To enable the villagers to live their best life' and the Parish Values.
* Monitor and manage team performance and undertake annual staff performance appraisals and development planning.
* Lead, support, and mentor Home Companions to deliver high-quality, person-centered care.
* Ensure villager's care plans are followed and regularly reviewed.
* Liaise and develop a rapport with family, relatives, and villager representatives.
* Create a supportive and motivated team culture.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Certificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, or Community Services.
* Medication competency (or willingness to obtain).
* Previous leadership experience in aged care, community care, or disability support.
* A willingness to learn about the various forms of dementia and how best to support your households and villagers.
* The ability to self-manage your day – excellent time management and prioritization skills required.
* An energetic, positive attitude with a genuine interest in and compassion for aged people living with dementia. A hands-on approach.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
* Commitment to ongoing learning and development.
* Commitment to work in harmony with Catholic Values and Principles.
