First Nations Community Liaison Officer, Pre-1914 Frontier Wars Gallery - affirmative measures (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander)

This vacancy is open only to candidates who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

* Non‐ongoing, Full Time - EL1
* $121,755 to $132,713
* Campbell, ACT (relocation support can be considered)

Working closely with First Nations curatorial contractors, the First Nations Community Liaison Officer will manage the First Nations community engagement process to ensure the content is informed by First Nations communities. Under general direction this position will develop and manage the First Nations engagement plan, contribute to content development, and document, track and report engagement progress. The officer will work closely with the curatorial team, report to key stakeholders including First Nations cultural custodians and Memorial advisory groups, and develop and manage the stakeholder consultation strategy and action plans. The role requires strong cultural capability, strategic stakeholder management and project coordination skills, and involves coordinating community engagement, research and communication, and ensuring Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property rights procedures are followed.

Core Responsibilities

* Devise and manage the First Nations engagement strategy and action plans, ensuring a First Nations‐led approach to content development
* Lead the overall storyline and themes for the Pre‐1914 Frontier Wars Gallery through best‐practice community engagement
* Coordinate the community engagement schedule
* Liaise with all story owners on content and design development
* Lead or facilitate all community meetings on content and design of the new gallery
* Manage feedback processes with community and document all community engagement activities
* Serve as the primary point of contact for all community stakeholders and manage strategic communications for the project
* Report to the AWM First Nations Advisory Group on engagement strategy and activities
* Work closely with First Nations curatorial staff to deliver gallery content in line with the project phases (concepts, design, production and installation)
* Be actively involved in delivering information or activities in an effective, efficient and culturally appropriate manner
* Follow Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) rights procedures and track all relevant documentation of the Frontier Wars gallery development
* Coordinate all cultural permissions for gallery content
* Report to the Project Manager on Community Engagement Plan progress, aligned with design and installation stages
* Collaborate with First Nations curators to present content to stakeholders
* Travel as required to support engagement activities

* To work at the Memorial, you must meet the requirements set out in the Public Service Act 1999.
* Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
* All applicants external to AWM that are offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a National Police Check, even if they currently hold a security clearance. The check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
