Gallery Director
The Gallery Director will be responsible for developing and delivering the annual artistic program for a renowned arts centre. This includes exhibition and artists-in-residence programs, as well as associated events that showcase contemporary ceramic art and its relationships to other artistic media.
This is a unique opportunity to shape and elevate the artistic program of a leading ceramics organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and Board to develop a new artistic vision for the gallery, including curating exhibitions and managing the exhibition space. They will also oversee the coordination of all communications and planning for the development and delivery of exhibitions, working with exhibiting artists, curators, exhibition partners, casual staff, contractors, and volunteers.
The role requires excellent project management skills, with experience in exhibition design and delivery. The successful candidate will also have a strong understanding of curatorial practices and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a small team of arts professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and deliver the annual artistic program for the arts centre
* Curate exhibitions and manage the exhibition space
* Oversee the coordination of all communications and planning for the development and delivery of exhibitions
* Work with exhibiting artists, curators, exhibition partners, casual staff, contractors, and volunteers
* Lead exhibition installations and de-installations, including curation, physical installation, lighting, packing, and condition reporting
Requirements:
