The Role
Surveillance and Control System Program Office (S&CSPO), based at RAAF Base Williamtown has an opportunity for a Logistics Officer to join their team. Operating in an integrated environment comprising Military, Australian Public Servants and Industry Partners, the Logistics Assurance Officer is responsible for delivering materiel logistics requirements to Defence customers and supporting industry partners in inventory management and supply support functions. The role ensures compliance with relevant logistics frameworks while managing and coordinating logistics activities across Air Traffic Management Systems, contributing to the development of sustainment strategies and plans for S&CSPO.
This position requires independent decision-making and effective workflow organisation, as well as interpreting and providing advice on logistics matters in accordance with legislation, policy, and procedures. The officer undertakes research and analysis, conducts reviews, and performs procedural tasks to achieve operational outcomes. A strong understanding of legislative frameworks, Defence policy, and government decision-making processes is essential, along with a commitment to compliance and continuous professional development.
About our Team
The APS 5 Logistics Officer position is situated in the Air Traffic Management sustainment unit, within S&CSPO, based at RAAF Base Williamtown. As part of the S&CSPO team, you will find yourself working in one of Australia's premier tourist destinations, the Hunter Valley. With idyllic surf beaches in Port Stephens and Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter wine region, hiking trails and Barrington tops are all within an hour of the Base.

* Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment;
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate effectively;
* Excellent written communication skills, particularly in preparing briefs, reports, and responses for senior management;
* A demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members and key stakeholders to achieve outcomes;
* A commitment to continuous improvement, actively seeking innovative and practical solutions to promote logistics best practice.
