At Acoem Australasia, safety is not a support function. It is a core part of how we operate.
We are seeking an experienced HSE Business Partner to take ownership of health, safety, and environmental outcomes across our Australian business. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who can operate autonomously, influence at all levels, and genuinely lift safety culture and standards in a complex operational environment.
This role is not an advisory support position. It is a trusted business partner role with direct access to the Country Managing Director and the opportunity to shape how safety is embedded across manufacturing, warehousing, and field service operations nationally.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Country Managing Director, you will be responsible for overseeing, improving, and embedding HSE systems, behaviours, and outcomes across the business.
You will act as the primary HSE authority in Australia, providing practical leadership, strong governance, and hands-on support across our sites and field teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and continuously improve the HSE framework across manufacturing, warehouse, office, and field service environments.
* Drive a strong, practical safety culture that moves beyond compliance and into ownership and accountability.
* Manage workers compensation, return to work, and WorkSafe matters end to end, including liaising with insurers, providers, and regulators.
* Oversee incident management, investigations, corrective actions, and reporting, ensuring learnings are embedded and followed through.
* Ensure compliance with WHS and environmental legislation across multiple states.
* Maintain and improve HSE management systems aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
* Develop, review, and implement HSE policies, procedures, SOPs, and risk assessments.
* Lead site inspections, audits, and risk reviews across manufacturing and field operations.
* Partner with leaders and supervisors to uplift capability, accountability, and safety leadership.
* Chair and drive the HSE committee and support meaningful consultation across the business.
* Deliver practical training, coaching, and guidance that actually works on the floor and in the field.
About You
You are a confident and experienced HSE professional who can operate independently and make sound judgment calls. You are comfortable engaging directly with senior leaders, while also being visible and respected on the floor and in the field.
You bring credibility, pragmatism, and follow-through. You know how to balance commercial realities with safety obligations, and you are not afraid to challenge when needed.
What We Are Looking For
* Strong experience in a hands-on HSE role within manufacturing, industrial, or field service environments.
* Demonstrated capability managing workers compensation, return to work, and regulator interactions.
* Solid working knowledge of WHS legislation and practical risk management.
* Experience maintaining and improving ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.
* The ability to influence, coach, and hold people accountable at all levels of the business.
* High level of autonomy, organisation, and ownership.
* Relevant HSE qualifications.
Why Join Acoem Australasia
* A genuine opportunity to shape and uplift safety culture across the business.
* Direct reporting line to the Country Managing Director with real influence.
* A role with autonomy, trust, and responsibility.
* Clear scope for growth and succession into a senior HSE leadership role for the right person.
* A collaborative, down to earth environment where safety is taken seriously.
