Your role as an Aboriginal Health Worker involves bridging cultural connections, advocating for patients, and delivering culturally safe health services across our rural community. What You'll Be Doing
The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician provides recovery-focused, person‐centred and culturally competent services, including assessment, care coordination, intervention, liaison, advocacy and review as part of a multidisciplinary team for both Aboriginal and non‐Aboriginal people referred with mental illness, distress or risk issues.
Selection Criteria
* Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with established links to the local Aboriginal community.
* Tertiary qualification Bachelor Health Science (Mental Health) or current registration with AHPRA for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers for Social Workers.
* Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality, safe and connected care to consumers and their families in a person‐centred and holistic manner that promotes self‐determination within the principles of mental health rehabilitation and a strengths-based approach.
* High level communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with consumers, families, carers and other stakeholders.
* High level computer skills, including accuracy and knowledge of Electronic Medical Record programs and Microsoft Office programs including Skype for Business.
* Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drugs strategic directions in service provision, including those related to Aboriginal people and their communities.
* Knowledge and understanding of legislation and policies relating to mental health care provision, including the Mental Health Act 2007.
* Current unrestricted driver's licence and willingness to drive/travel as required. This may involve long distances and overnight stays.
