About the Service & Location
Based in the heart of Armidale, you’ll be part of the New England North West Specialist Palliative Care Service, providing care in clients’ homes and community settings. Our multidisciplinary service includes Registered Nurses, a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, and Palliative Care Medical Officer, supported by Clinical Nurse Consultants and a Community Health Nurse Educator. Together, we ensure clients and families receive holistic, person‑centred care that honours their preferences, values, and quality of life.
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide complex, specialised nursing care to clients and families living with life‑limiting illness. Your role will involve:
- Conducting home visits and comprehensive holistic assessments
- Providing symptom management, emotional support, and education
- Coordinating care with GPs, allied health, and specialist teams
- Advocating for patients and families to ensure individualised, person‑centred care
What We’re Looking For
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Experience in palliative care or a robust willingness to learn
- Excellent communication and emotional intelligence
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Confidence in clinical decision‑making and patient advocacy
- Commitment to person‑centred, culturally respectful care
- A demonstrated understanding of the issues relating to providing palliative nursing care to clients with life‑limiting illnesses and their families/carers
