Provide technical support and servicing of all instrumentation and data transmission equipment associated with Water Resource Monitoring.
The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment's Water Monitoring Unit is responsible for providing assembly, maintenance, fault diagnoses and repair services for all instrumentation and data transmission equipment associated with Water Resource Monitoring throughout the Northern Territory.
As an Instrument Technician Assistant, you support the Instrument Workshop Manager in providing asset management and technical support to water monitoring officers as they deliver water monitoring programs across the Northern Territory.
This involves the assembly, maintenance, fault diagnoses, calibration and repair of all electronic instrumentation and data transmission equipment and undertaking field trips to repair or replace water monitoring equipment.
To be successful, you will have a demonstrated interest in electronic instrumentation and data transmission equipment; are physically fit and have an aptitude in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools. It is essential you are able to identify colours in various electrical wiring, can perform basic wiring and termination tasks and hold or have the ability to obtain an NT Drivers licence and NT firearms licence.
In the performance of your role, you can expect to be working in, on and near water bodies including flood waters; undertaking extensive remote travel including camping away from home for up to two weeks at a time and outside core business hours.
