About the Opportunity
As a Senior Research Scientist - Biological Oceanographer, you will spearhead research to improve our understanding of ecosystem drivers behind harmful algal blooms in South Australian waters. Your work will bridge physical oceanographic processes with biological responses in plankton communities.
* You will apply field observations, laboratory analysis, and modeling approaches to identify conditions that trigger, sustain, or mitigate Algal Bloom events.
* You will provide critical insights to inform management strategies.
About the Role
The role involves leading high-impact research that advances our knowledge of plankton ecology and its linkages with oceanographic processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive for fieldwork.
* You may be required to undertake out-of-hours work and inter-state travel.
* You must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities as required by government agencies.
* Periods of time will be spent at sea on small boats and large research vessels.
* You will contribute to whole-agency working groups developing policy responses to significant and emerging issues.
Essential Qualifications: A PhD in physical, biological, or biogeochemical oceanography or a related discipline with a strong focus on integrating oceanographic modeling and field observations to understand plankton ecology.
Further Information: This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated researcher to advance their career in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
What We Offer
This role offers a stimulating work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.
