Your role
The Security Architecture Analyst plays a key role within Information and Digital Services (IDS) at the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), supporting the protection of information, systems and services that underpin critical community outcomes across NSW. Working closely with technical, governance and business stakeholders, the role contributes to building and maintaining a strong cyber security posture across a complex and diverse service delivery environment.
The purpose of this role is to assess and manage cyber security risks, support security governance activities, and help ensure compliance with NSW Government and departmental security requirements, including third‐party and supplier assurance. This is a great opportunity for a security professional who wants to deepen their experience in cyber risk, governance, and assurance within a large public sector organisation, while making a meaningful contribution to services that impact vulnerable communities across NSW.
What you'll do
In this role, you will undertake cyber and information security risk assessments, conduct security reviews, and contribute to governance reporting and risk acceptance processes. You will support compliance with relevant policies, standards and certifications, assist with audit and assurance activities, and participate in Third‐Party Cyber Risk Assessments (TPCRA), including reviewing supplier assurance artefacts and tracking remediation actions. Day‐to‐day work involves analysing controls, preparing clear advice and reports, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to balance security, risk and operational needs.
You will be part of the Risk, Audit and Compliance function within IDS, working in a collaborative and professional team that values integrity, continuous improvement and practical risk management. The team supports a positive and inclusive working environment, encourages knowledge sharing and professional development, and works closely with stakeholders across DCJ to deliver strong governance outcomes in a complex and evolving digital landscape.
What we're looking for
In addition to the essential requirements outlined in the role description, the ideal candidate will:
* Have experience in cyber security, information security architecture, or security assurance, with a strong background in risk assessment and governance activities.
* Have demonstrated experience working with security standards and frameworks, and ideally exposure to third‐party or supplier cyber risk management.
* Have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications (such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, ISACA, ACSC or equivalent) are desirable.
* Have strong analytical skills, the ability to clearly communicate complex security issues, and a collaborative, professional approach are essential to succeed in this role.
