THIS ROLE
We are seeking a
Gold-Certified Ignition Developer
to join our growing team. In this senior role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing sophisticated Ignition SCADA solutions for Australia's leading mining and energy companies. You will architect unified control systems, integrate operational technology with IT infrastructure, and create intuitive interfaces that transform how our clients monitor and control their industrial operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Ignition Platform Development
* Design and develop advanced Ignition SCADA applications from concept through deployment.
* Create intuitive, user-friendly HMI/SCADA interfaces that simplify complex industrial operations.
* Implement Ignition Perspective modules to deliver responsive, modern visualisation solutions.
* Develop custom scripting solutions (Python, JavaScript) to meet unique client requirements.
* Configure and optimise tag structures, alarming systems, and historical data collection.
* Integrate Ignition with industrial data sources including PI historians, PLCs, and operational databases.
System Architecture & Integration
* Design scalable, resilient system architectures for enterprise-level deployments.
* Integrate Ignition with third-party systems including databases, APIs, and enterprise applications.
* Develop and maintain bidirectional data flows between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) systems.
* Implement security best practices and role-based access control.
* Design database schemas and optimise data models for industrial applications.
Client Engagement & Consulting
* Work directly with clients to understand their operational challenges and business objectives.
* Translate business requirements into technical specifications and system designs.
* Lead requirements gathering workshops and stakeholder consultations.
* Present technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Build trusted relationships through consistent, high-quality delivery.
* Provide expert recommendations on system optimisation and continuous improvement opportunities.
Project Delivery
* Manage Ignition development projects from requirements through deployment and handover.
* Work autonomously while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
* Document system designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
* Provide technical mentoring and knowledge transfer to clients and team members.
* Stay current with Ignition platform updates and industry best practices.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
* Inductive Automation Gold Certification
(or commitment to achieve within 6 months).
* 5+ years of professional experience
developing Ignition SCADA applications in industrial environments.
* Demonstrated expertise in
Ignition Perspective
.
* Strong proficiency in
Python and JavaScript
for industrial automation applications.
* Experience with
database design and SQL
(preferably SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar).
* Proven ability in
UI/UX design
for industrial applications, creating intuitive interfaces for complex systems.
* Software development background
with understanding of version control, testing methodologies, and development lifecycle.
* Experience integrating Ignition with industrial protocols (OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus, DNP3, etc.).
* Consulting experience
working with multiple clients and stakeholder groups.
* Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of complex projects.
* Creative problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations.
HIGHLY VALUED
* Experience in the
resources sector
(mining, oil & gas).
* Familiarity with
OSIsoft PI System
integration.
* Experience with
Azure/ AWS
cloud services and modern DevOps practices.
* Understanding of industrial network architecture and cybersecurity.
* Experience with other SCADA/HMI platforms (for comparative insight).
* Certification in related technologies (AWS, Azure, SQL Server, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
* Current Inductive Automation Gold Certification
(or Core + one additional certification with commitment to achieve Gold).
* Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to client sites as required.
* Australian work rights (we are unable to sponsor visas at this time).
