About The Role
As a Court Services Officer, you will:
1. Provide administrative support to ensure the efficient and effective operation of Court Services Queensland registries.
2. Offer frontline services to court users daily, over the phone, in person, and/or in court. This involves keeping stakeholders at the heart of service delivery and responding to their needs in a trauma-aware and compassionate manner, ensuring prompt resolution of enquiries, requests, issues, and complaints. In-court duties may include:
3. Unlocking and preparing courtrooms for scheduled sittings.
4. Making proclamations when opening, adjourning, resuming, and closing courts.
5. Administering oaths and affirmations to jurors, witnesses, and interpreters.
6. Maintaining security, care, and control of jurors.
7. Handing out exhibits and documents in court as required.
8. Testing and operating courtroom technology and equipment.
9. Recognising and acting on risks related to Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV), including anti-social behaviours of court users, by collating information and escalating to senior colleagues.
10. Adhering to administrative processes, policies, and procedures related to court and registry operations, in accordance with legislation, departmental policies, and procedures to ensure timeliness and accuracy. Supporting the Registrar in managing daily operations, including coordinating court proceedings and delivering services, including processing complex court matters.
11. Preparing, processing, and managing administrative and financial documents, such as correspondence and court records, in accordance with legislation and policies to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
12. Providing technical and administrative support to Magistrates and procedural support to court users at the counter, over the phone, and in writing.
13. Building professional, respectful, and confidential relationships with judiciary members, government agencies, litigants, and the public.
14. Using, updating, and monitoring relevant databases and digital tools to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
15. Providing information to the public and stakeholders about court services, rules, and procedures.
16. Developing skills, staying updated on current practices, seeking feedback, and managing challenging tasks with motivation.
17. Collaborating with the team to improve registry processes and procedures.
18. Fulfilling statutory duties as a Justice of the Peace, Clerk of the Court, or Registrar as required, ensuring legal compliance and process integrity.
19. Carrying out other duties as directed by supervisors, in line with professional standards and organizational objectives.
