A rare opportunity to combine operations, relationships and travel
We're looking for a Group Pallet Controller to take ownership of pallet management across multiple depots within a growing transport group. This is a hands-on, high-influence role with real business impact — not just spreadsheet watching, but working closely with depot teams, suppliers and customers to get tangible outcomes.
If you enjoy autonomy, variety and being the "go-to" person who makes things run smoother, this role offers a unique chance to create real value across a business.
The opportunity
In this role, you'll oversee the management of Chep and Loscam hire pallets across multiple sites, ensuring accuracy, compliance, reconciliation and improvement of pallet processes company-wide. You'll work closely with operations, finance, suppliers and customers — and regularly visit depots to support teams on the ground.
No two weeks look the same. One day you may be resolving account discrepancies, the next rolling out improved processes across depots or training staff. If you enjoy wearing more than one hat, this will suit you.
What you'll be doing
Managing hire pallet movements, balances and reconciliation
Investigating shortages, docket issues and claims
Ensuring compliance with pallet agreements and company policy
Improving systems, reporting and processes
Working with finance on hire costs, recoveries and invoicing
Training depot staff and building strong internal relationships
Liaising directly with pallet suppliers and customers
Producing regular reports for senior management
Travelling between depots as required to support operations
What we're looking for
Experience in transport, logistics or pallet control
Working knowledge of Chep / Loscam hire pallets (preferred)
Strong Excel and administrative capability
Confident communicator who can influence without authority
Organised, analytical and commercially minded
Comfortable working independently and across multiple locations
Practical problem-solver who enjoys improving how things work
Understanding of Chain of Responsibility (desirable)
Why this role?
Broad responsibility with genuine autonomy
Work with a wide variety of people across the business
Hands-on role with visible impact
Supportive leadership team
Opportunity to shape and improve systems — not just maintain them
Ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of desk, depot and people work
Ready to step into a role with responsibility, variety and impact?
