Our peer mentor buddy programs provide friendship and support for young people living with disability, while offering personal growth and leadership opportunities for young people of all abilities.
YLOT is committed to building inclusive communities and increasing awareness of disability among younger generations, with the long-term aim of creating meaningful change and acceptance.
About the role
The Program Manager, School Buddies (Hobart) is a hands-on role responsible for planning, organising, and overseeing the School Buddies program in Hobart. The program operates within Tasmania\'s Support Schools, partnering with mainstream schools to bring students living with disability together with mainstream students in a \'reverse inclusion\' model.
Essential pre-employment requirements include a valid Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Check, and current First Aid Certificate. The role is part-time, 20 hours per week. Some flexibility with the days of work, this will be set according to a program timetable within school hours.
Responsibilities
* Developing program structures, managing timetables, coordinating with schools, organising resources, and supporting participants and buddies to ensure program objectives are achieved.
* Provide direct supervision and support to mainstream participants, ensuring a safe, positive, and holistic program environment.
About you
You will have experience in program management, ideally within the disability and/or school sector.
A minimum qualification of Certificate IV or Diploma level is required for this position.
The successful candidate must possess 1-2 years of program management experience.
You enjoy working with young people of all abilities and are confident managing a diverse range of stakeholders across multiple schools and community organisations. You bring strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and effective time-management abilities.
You are passionate about disability awareness and advocacy, and committed to fostering change in future generations. Discretion and confidentiality are essential strengths in this role.
