The General Manager Operations will be a key player in the senior leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making, execution and hands-on oversight of all operational activities across their multi-state portfolio. This role requires a visionary and agile leader adept at translating business objectives into operational initiatives, driving continuous improvement and cultivating high-performing teams. With regular interstate travel needs, you will be responsive, proactively fostering robust client relationships and consistently identifying and actioning opportunities for improvement and expansion.

* Operational Leadership & Performance: Provide strategic and hands-on operational leadership across multiple states, ensuring financial, safety, quality and client satisfaction goals are consistently achieved across all hotels.
* Strategic Contribution & Growth: Actively contribute to Silk's long-term strategic planning and support business growth initiatives, including identifying and executing development opportunities.
* Financial & Commercial Management: Manage all financial aspects of the operational portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control. Conduct regular reviews of financial and non-financial reports to drive continuous improvement and profitability.
* Process Optimisation & Compliance: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of all operational systems, processes and standard operating procedures. Proactively identify operational risks and implement preventive measures, ensuring adequate compliance with all legal, regulatory and company standard (especially related to safety, workplace relations and clients contracts).
* Problem Solving & Implementation: Quickly assess complex operational problems, develop effective solutions and confidently implement them, empowering operational managers to act autonomously.
* Client Negotiation & Stakeholder Relationships: Act as the primary contact for major clients, demonstrating strong negotiation skills to resolve issues and build trust-based relationships. Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Exceptional emotional intelligence is required, with the ability to adapt communication and leadership styles to meet the needs any situation.
* Team Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, mentor and develop a high-performing team of operational managers, ensuring succession planning and talent retention.
* Travel & Adaptability: Travel regularly and on an ad-hoc basis to sites across multiple states to support teams, assess performance, engage with clients and ensure alignment with business objectives. Be prepared to manage a fluid portfolio, potentially taking on direct management of hotels during growth phases.

* Experienced & Credible Leader: You possess at least 7 years of leadership experience in a contracting services environment or a comparable client-facing operational role, demonstrating success in managing complex, multi-site operations.
* Proactive Problem-Solver: You have a proven ability to quickly assess operational issues, make decisive actions and implement solutions that drive efficiency and compliance.
* Exceptional Communicator & Negotiator: You are a confident communicator, with high energy and a natural ability to connect with people.You possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to engage, influence and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including major clients.
* Growth-Oriented & Adaptable: You are flexible, dynamic and resilient, with a proactive "can-do" attitude. You are comfortable with a fluid portfolio and demonstrate a willingness to take on new challenges and contribute to business growth. You have an outgoing nature and desire to adapt to change.
* People-centric: You have a track record of leading diverse teams, fostering collaborative work environments, and developing talents.
* Commercial Acumen: You have a strong track record of high-quality, value-aligned decision-making that simultaneously drives operational efficiency and business growth.
* Strategic Thinker with Executive Potential: You are highly organised, detail-oriented and capable of working independently and as part of the broader leadership team.
* Willingness for Extensive Interstate Travel: Availability and willingness to travel regularly and on an ad-hoc basis across multiple states to support operational sites.
* Relevant Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
