Reporting to the Workplace Health and Safety Advisor, this role will act as a key player in supporting the safety and wellbeing of all staff, visitors, and animals at Australia Zoo. Key focus points of this role include the Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordination for all employees and volunteers, and general administrative duties as they arise.
You will have a demonstrated ability to work in a high performance environment with a capacity to deliver all requirements of the role, great work ethic and the ability to work to a high standard within a team. They will act as an effective liaison between parties, and will have a demonstrated ability to communicate with stakeholders of varied backgrounds, levels and expertise.
Duties Include:
* Support the development, implementation, monitoring and ongoing improvement of Workplace Health and Safety Systems.
* Assisting in employee rehabilitation and return to work processes and ensuring a safe return to work for all employees and volunteers in accordance with the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
* Assist with administration of Development, implementation and review of health and safety policies and procedures.
* Assist with administration of regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
* Assist with incident and accident Investigations alongside the WHS Advisor, and suggest corrective actions.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation of safety activities, audits, inspections, and incidents.
* Assist with ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations.
* Act as a liaison with relevant regulatory bodies and external parties.
* Provide administrative support to the Workplace Health and Safety Department as required.
* Assist with organising and overseeing emergency asset testing, including fire extinguishers and smoke alarms, chemical showers and eyewashes.
* Complete regular data input and database audits.
* Input data into the Workplace Health and Safety system.
* Responsible for scanning all relevant paperwork to file accordingly.
* Assist with organising regular drills and training if required.
Essential Criteria:
* Hold current Driver's Licence.
* Available to work weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods.
* Strong communication and problem solving skills.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft and Google Suite (including workbook, Document and Drive coordination).
* Proficient written communication and knowledge of professional language.
