Cabana Bar is a vibrant dining and social destination in the heart of Sydney, known for its lively atmosphere, creative food, and exceptional service. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to support our Head Chef and lead the kitchen team in delivering a high-quality dining experience. Position Overview: As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring the consistent preparation and presentation of food. You will play a key leadership role in menu execution, kitchen efficiency, and upholding food safety standards. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Assist the Head Chef in planning, developing, and executing menus that reflect Cabana Bar’s style and standards. Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff to maintain a productive and positive working environment. Ensure all dishes are prepared, cooked, and presented to a consistently high standard. Manage stock control, ordering, and inventory to minimise waste and maintain cost efficiency. Oversee kitchen operations during service periods, ensuring smooth and timely delivery of meals. Monitor and enforce compliance with food safety, hygiene, and occupational health and safety regulations. Contribute creative ideas for menu development, specials, and seasonal offerings. Step into the Head Chef role when required to ensure seamless kitchen management. Skills & Experience: Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef in a high-volume hospitality venue. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of modern cooking techniques. Ability to perform under pressure and maintain consistency during busy service periods. Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
